October is Cyber Security Awareness Month. In order to prepare for activities and boost your organization’s security awareness posture we will focus on several areas in the cyber security realm. By the time October rolls around you should have plenty of resources to make you #CyberAware
Do you shop online? Bank online? Use Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, Instagram, Snap Chat or other social media? How about texting? Sharing pictures? Do you blog?
If you answered ‘yes’ to any of these questions you have an online presence. You have created a digital footprint. How you behave in each of these ventures forms your digital citizenship.
We use social media for connecting and sharing our ideas and views. This can be a strong educational resource. It is important to understand that there are real people that are viewing and sharing at the same time. Don’t engage in cyberbullying behavior or negative conversation. Sharing differing views can be enlightening. Make sure your debates are respectful and accurate. Don’t succumb to name calling, speculation and gossip.
Create a powerful digital presence by talking about community projects and sharing links that educate and inform. Stay positive and don’t disclose too much personal information online.
