Job title: Marketing Specialist
Describe what you do at MOREnet: Mostly, I take care of the various websites MOREnet’s marketing team is responsible for. Those sites include this one, MOREnet’s main public website and a couple others. I also pitch in on writing and editing, and when we’re really desperate, I’ll help with graphic design. I’m also the staff photographer.
How does the work you do affect members? I often have some role with our member communications. I might have written or edited the text, written the HTML template for our email software or created the underlying pages on our website.
What’s your favorite hobby? I’ll read almost anything; it’s gotta be really miserable for me to give up on it. Favorites are science fiction and pulpy detective novels. I’m also a closet (well, not anymore) mechanical keyboard aficionado. By keyboard I mean computer keyboards that you type on. I have several, including some vintage IBM buckling spring boards and several other newer Cherry MX and Matias boards. I’m currently waiting on a new programmable reproduction of the venerable IBM model F. It’s a sickness, I know.
What did you want to be when you grew up? I grew up in Oklahoma in a very small town called Spiro. Spiro is home to a good-sized archaeological dig related to some Native American burial mounds. My childhood also coincided with the Indiana Jones movies (the good ones; we shan’t speak of the fourth one) coming out. Combine those two things, and I wanted to be an archaeologist.
Anything else we should know about you? Not really. I have an eight-year-old daughter who consumes approximately half of all non-work hours.
