Maker Girl is on the road this summer with their mobile Makerspace and stopped at the Fulton Fab Lab to host an event for elementary and middle school girls. Maker Girl is a group of women pursuing STEM degrees at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign promoting STEM to girls through hands on CAD design and 3D printing activities. A participant uses TinkerCAD to create an object of her own design — a UFO with her name on it.
Participants learned the basics of using Tinkercad in one of the school’s computer labs.
And then were off creating individually or in pairs.
Watching their designs being printed on one of a dozen printers donated to Maker Girl by Ultimaker.
