Google has launched a new search engine that has the potential to help scientists, data journalists, policymakers and others find useful datasets. The Dataset Search platform, launched September 5, trawls millions of open data repositories.
It looks at publisher sites, digital libraries, and on authors’ web pages, relying on publishers to correctly label their sets with appropriate metadata.
