Blocks are individualized areas for specific content. These are customizable and can be added or removed based on your preference. There are a variety of blocks from which to choose. (1)


In order to make many of the changes within your course, you will need to Turn Editing On, by click the button in the top- right corner of the screen (2).

When editing is on, each block will have icons for making changes to the block. If you click the “X” icon, you can remove that block from your course. The gear icon allows some configurations to be made. Hovering over the title of the block, you will see the move icon. Blocks can be dragged and rearranged on the left and right hand sides of the page.

To add a Block to your course, click the Add drop down menu on the lower left corner of your page. Choose the desired block . Your screen will refresh and the block will appear. At this point you can customize and move it around.New_document_3-g5338-252

Navigation Block

In previous versions of Moodle, users could navigate through various parts of the site through using the breadcrumb trail and back buttons. Now there is a much easier way to navigate through Moodle using the Navigation Block. Users can get to various parts of Moodle with a few simple clicks which open in a nested format. This is now the recommended way to navigate through the Moodle site.New_document_3-g5342-919

Comments Block

This is a new block that can be added to any Moodle page where you want your participants to leave public comments. These can be used for providing feedback on assignments, course topics, and a number of other uses. Any comments will be viewable by all participants and can be individually deleted by teachers, if needed.New_document_3-g5346-202

To add a Comments Block, ensure editing is turned on and then locate the Add a Block block. Choose Comments from the dropdown menu.
