The beginning of a new school year is around the corner. Have you checked your policies to make sure that you are current on CIPA and COPPA compliance?

CIPA – The Children’s Internet Protection Act was enacted by Congress is 2000. It aims to protect children from inappropriate Internet content. Most organizations have a content filter and these can be customized to fit the appropriate needs.

COPPA – Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act was enacted by Congress in 1998. Its purpose is to protect children under the age of 13 from having their personal data collected and used by organizations. It is important to read ALL privacy guidelines. Do not be deceptive about a child’s age or COPPA does not provide protection.
